March 30, 2015

Hola Familia y Amigos,
I hope that yall are all doing great. So today I got a new comp. I am now with Elder Haderlie. Changes weren´t suppose to be until tomorrow but something happened to another elder. So I am now his companion. I am still in the same area of Ixtahuacan. We are the only elders in this area now cause they closed the other area. So now us 2 have to work all of this area and well.......it´s huge jajajaj but we will work hard to do what is needed to be done here. My week was great though. On Monday we didn´t do much. We just cleaned the house and rested for the day. We then went to write at the internet. On Tuesday we had a district meeting. The topic was over how to study better and what we can do to help our investigators more. So that was a great meeting. Then we worked here in Ixta with our investigators. It was a great day cause we had a lot of great lessons. On Wednesday we went to La Laguneta, another village in our area, to visit a new member. Her name is Rosa and she is a really nice woman. It was hard to get to here house because we were in the mountains. Oh it was the hottest day. It was really dusty but we made it. On Thursday we went to work in Platinar. We went to visit Maria to see how she was and invite here to church. Then we went with another new member named Crisitina. But she wasn´t there so we just did a little bit of contacting there. It was hard because they spoke a lot of mam there. So I am trying to learn a little of mam to be able to communicate at least a little with the people there.  On Friday we went to Acal. We were gonna go visit a lot of people to see how they were. But as we were arriving in Acal, we found out that there was a huge fiesta going on. So as we went to peoples houses, we came to find out that no one was home. They were all at the party. We then went with Josefa. We taught her a a little lesson. Her kids were so happy to see us. We were also happy to see them. And then we came back to Ixta. On Saturday we went with the Domingo family. We hadn´t visited them in a while but we wanted to so we went. We found out that the mother had here baby. He is a little boy. His name is Marcos Miguel Domingo Ordoñez. He looked to innocent and peaceful. I was happy to see that everything was going great with that family. We also went to visit Atruro and to invite him to church. He committed to come and so that was good. We also went with the Garcia family. We taught them over the Book of Mormon. They had many questions but we answered all of them. They said that they would read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it was true. On Sunday we went to church and well I had to give a talk. I talked over Jesus Christ and the importance of Him. I was so happy to be given the opportunity to speak. After church I received compliments that my talk was great. People said they felt so good to come to church and that they were happy they went. I was so glad to know that they were happy to come to church. So that was my week. I hope everything goes great for everyone. I love and miss yall!

March 23, 2015

Dear Family and Friends,

I am doing really great here in the great country of Guatemala. I am learning a lot here. It is awesome! And I am glad to know that yall are spending time with the missionaries. They really do appreciate it. My comp and I are really happy when a family invites us to eat or to a famly home evening. And yeah the mission is not easy but it is so worth it. Yes, sometimes we get doors slammed in our face or someone lets there dog chase us. But it just adds to the experience. So yeah that´s fun. So this week wasn´t too busy. On Monday we just cleaned the house. And then we went to write our family and friends. So that was my P-Day last week. On Tuesday we went to the aldeas. And as usual it was hot! But it´s okay cause we are still alive. We went to visit members that live out there. Then we went with Arturo to help fortify his faith. But then my comp started feeling really sick. So he checked his temperature and he was at 100. So we stopped for the day and let him rest. Wednesday came and I told him to check his temperature again. Well it wasn´t better. He was now at 101. So I did nothing all of that day. I studied, wrote letters, watched a Jeffrey R. Holland MTC Devotional, and that´s about it. So I was sure that he would be better on Thursday but nah. So I was in the house from Tuesday until Friday. I much rather would´ve been outside walking, sweating, and running from dogs jajajaj. But then on Friday we went to Zaculeu because we had a multi-zone conference. We got on the bus at 6:23. We almost missed it. We had to run from our house to the park which isn´t too far. But I woke up like 15 minutes before so I wasn´t ready to run yet. But we caught it so that was good. We had the conference and President Smith talked to us about the importance of the lesson of the Restoration, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. It was a really great conference. I learned a lot. I took a lot of notes from it. And then we got to watch Meet the Mormons. It was super cool! I liked it a lot. On Saturday and Sunday we went to all of our investigators to see how they were doing. We have 2 families that progressing. They are the Aguilar family and the Ordoñnez family. They are really cool families. We have gained much confidence with them. In the Aguilar family are Jeramias and his wife. When we go with them, they always ask super great questions. We answer the questions in the best way we can to help them understand. When we go with the Ordonez family they always welcome us in. they are super nice and they love when we come and visit them. That family consists of José, Katarin, Luis, Melissa, and Mayveli. They are cool families. Sunday we also had church. I taught the gospel principles class. And this weeks lesson was on the Life of Christ. It talked about from when He was born until He did the ultimate sacrifice, the Atonement. It was a really great lesson. So yeah that was my week. I love and miss yall!

March 16, 2014

Dear Family and Friends,
Well I am glad to hear that yall had a great sacrament meeting. Everything is going great here in Ixtahuacan. I am continuing to work and love the people here each day. It is awesome being here. This has been a great week. Well last Monday we had a great P-Day. We went to Huehue to get some groceries that we needed. So what we needed and then we went to eat Domino´s Pizza. Oh I miss pizza so much. We don´t have anywhere to eat/buy pizza here in Ixtahuacan. Jajajaj it is a struggle but we get through it. So each month we get on chance to eat pizza. So after that we got on the bus and came back to our area. On Tuesday we went to visit Sandra and see how she is doing since she had surgery on her hip. She is doing well. We helped with some things that needed to be done around the house. Then we went with Arturo to teach him a little lesson and help fortify his faith. On Wednesday we were going through our area book and we found some information on old investigators with some members names. So we went with those members and asked about those people. We found 3 forms and out of the 3 we found one new family to teach. So that was cool. We also had the Clase de Hermanamiento. We had 2 investigators come to that. The lesson was on the Book of Mormon. It was a really great lesson. After that we had an activity. It is where there is a ball and you have to kick it into a box like thing. It has a net in the back. Anyways, the name of the game is futbol. But in the U.S, the name of the game is soccer jajajaj. On Thursday we had a zone meeting. It really great. We talked about our objective as missionaries. We talked about the importance of each point in our objective. Then the missionaries, who are leaving at the end of the change to go home, gave their testimonies. After that we went to visit la familia Garcia to start teaching them. Then we went with Arturo to see a reference but the reference wasn´t home so we schedule to go visit him another day. On Friday we went with la familia Domingo. It was so fun to be there. That is a really great family. They were less actives but now they have a month and a half of coming to church. They are a really nice family. We taught a little lesson then we taught the kids some games. It was really great to be with them. Then we went with Arturo to see another reference. Well that reference wasn´t home either so we went to contact. We had a little bit of success there. On Saturday we went to the aldeas. We visited Josefa and her family. We shared a scripture and asked if there was anything we could do for her. She said no. She is a super pilas member. She lives about 15 minutes, in car, from the church and sometimes she doesn´t have money to get a ride so she walks with her children. They are really cool! She is the only one we got to visit because no one else was home. It was crazy but that´s how the mission is sometimes. On Sunday we went to church and had so great meetings. I gave a talk in the primary over prayer. It was great! Later we had a cita with an investigator. We took Franklin with us. And we taught the lesson over the restoration. It was good but the best thing is when Franklin testified of the things we taught about. The spirit was so strong in that moment. His testimony helped a lot! So that was really great. Well I love and miss yall!

Elder Chicas

P.S. And yeah I get to see yall again in less than 2 months. I am excited. Time does fly when I´m having fun...which is everyday. I love you sis!

March 9, 2015

Dear Family and Friends,
Well this was an absolutely great/busy week. On Monday we left of area to go to Zaculeu which is an hour away. We spent our P-Day there. We left to get there at 8. So we got there and the zone activity was soccer. So that was fun. After that we did divisions with the leaders that are in that area. It was pretty awesome! I went with Elder Rodgerson. He is about to finish his mission at the end of this month. So that ws cool. We went with la familia Lopez to have a family home evening with them. One of their children turned 10 that day so they gave us cake which is good cause I like cake jajajaj. After that we went home to eat and then we went to sleep. On Tuesday we woke up at 5 to be able to get to Xela. We went to the temple on Tuesday and it was so great. The temple is such a special place. After the temple, my comp and I split up from the group because he had to go to the doctor. Well my comp has been here in Huehuetenango all his mission so he doesn´t know where anything is in Xela. But I knew where to go. It was so hot as we walked to the doctors office. We walked for a good hour in the scorching sun. But then we made it to the doctor. We sat in the waiting room for an hour and then we finally talked to the doctor for like 8 minutes. I thought that was funny. I was like "Wow!" After that we went with the mission nurses to tell them what the doctor said. Then we got on a bus that would bring us back to Huehue. Oh it was such a long ride. We got back to the house around 9 and we were both dead. On Wednesday and Thursday we worked super hard in our area. We went to aldeas, fought off dogs, sweated a lot, drank a lot of water, and took a couple of breaks. We went with Antonio to get him ready for him baptismal interview. He was ready. He was ready to get baptized. On Friday we did divisions and I went to Colotenango. I stayed there with Elder Wright. I shared an area with him in my last area. He is my bro. We worked a lot there in Colo. We started out by going to visit a sister who lived at the bottom of a mountain. Elder Wright said that there was another way to get back to the road when we got there so we wouldn´t have to climb the mountain. But after a member told us that the only way to get back to the road was by going up the mountain, I was about to fall over and cry. So then we climbed the mountain without stopping. Oh when we got the the top, Elder Wright and I were just drenched in sweat. It was so hot! So we took a little break. After that we went to visit other people. It was a pretty great day. On Saturday I got back to my area. I washed some clothes that I would need for the baptism. We then had the baptism. I baptized José Antonio Domingo Ordoñez and Elida Maribel Andres Mendez. On Sunday we went to church and had a great sacrament meeting. After sacrament meeting, President Caly came to me and asked me and another elder to go with him to do visits. Elder Gonzales and I accompanied him. On the way, one of the tires went flat. So went had to go get that fixed cause president didn´t have a spare tire with him. So after that was taken care of we went to visit a sister who lives way out in the middle of no where. We got to here house to find out that she wasn´t there. On the way back we saw kids that were fishing. President asked for a fish and so they gave him some. So yeah that was my week. It was super great! Well I love and miss yall!

March 2, 2015

Dear Family and Friends,

We were not able to go to the temple last week because there were problems with the road. So it was rescheduled for tomorrow. So I am not in my area. I am  hour away from Ixta. And I don`t have a lot of time to write because I am doing divisions with some of the elders in the area I am in. But I am super excited to be able to go to the temple tomorrow. I got a backpack and it is super great. I needed a new backpack pretty badly. And this Saturday I am baptizing that little boy. His name is Antonio. I am also doing a ward baptism. I will be baptizing Elyda also. They are cool kids. Well this was a great week. We concentrated in the aldeas. We had a lot of success there. We hope to continue having success there. We will see. It is super hot and dusty but it adds to the experience. Jajajaj I love it. And also the other night we went to an investigators house and there is a dog that just loves to chill in front of the entrance to there house. So we tried to go around him but he just came at us. We were told to be careful with that dog because he has already bitten a lot of people. So we will try to be careful around it. Well I hope yall have a great week.I love and miss yall!
